Hand Painted Glass Ornaments                                              Home > Home & Family]

       Hand Painted Glass Ornaments

Elegant, delicate, tasteful and unique are just a few words to describe these hand painted glass ornaments. You can create and entire tree’s worth of these beautiful glass ornaments, or make just a few to give as special gifts. These ornaments are easy to make and are a wonderful Eid decor addition. You only need a little time, a little imagination and a few supplies to begin this craft today.

MATERIALS YOU WILL NEED:

  •  Glass ornaments. You can find these ornaments at your local craft store or almost anywhere that sells Eid decor. These glass ornaments come in numerous shapes, sizes and colors. Pick whichever you like best. For this project I have used a small, round, clear ornament.

  • Crafting paint. Choose colors that will best compliment the ornament and ornament color. You can use several different colors or stick with a monochromatic scheme. Gold and Silver colored paints look elegant on glass ornaments. You should be able to purchase crafting paint at your local discount retailer or craft and hobby store.

  • Small paint brush(es).

  • Hooks to hang your ornament.

  • Additional touches you may want to add (see tips and suggestions section of this article).

  • A big imagination!

TO GET STARTED:

Once you have gathered all of the materials you will need and have an adequate space to work in, you are ready to get started.

You may first want to practice drawing some patterns and designs on a piece of paper to get the feel for what you want to do on your ornament. You can use small swirls and dots, or get even more creative and paint on wintry scenes. This is your chance to really personalize this project. If you are making these ornaments as gifts, think of the intended recipient and tailor the designs to this persons likes and personality.

When you are satisfied with your patterns and designs and feel comfortable enough, pick up the paint brush and go for it! You really can’t go wrong with this project because it is such a unique and hand made craft.

That really is all there is to this fun and fancy crafting project. Just add a hook and display your creation! Paint a collection of ornaments and decorate your family tree or help your children to design an ornament for their teacher or friends. Have fun with this craft!

Look around at crafting stores and at holiday displays and decorations for inspiration. Add extra special touches to your completed ornament to really dress it up. Try using glitter paint instead of regular paint for an extra sparkle.

ADDITIONAL TIPS AND SUGGESTIONS:

Tie a pretty ribbon onto the hook of the ornament.

Use this crafting idea to dress up holiday gifts by attaching a hand painted glass ornament to a gift bag or box. Attached the ornament with ribbon to the name tag. It will be a nice touch and an extra surprise for your loved one.

Many stores sell glass ornaments with metal tops which have a space to attach the hooks. On some of these ornaments the metal tops are removable. Find some of these ornaments and place paint into ornament. Swirl the ornament around until the paint coats the inside of the glass. You will be amazed at all of the different designs and outcomes of this twist on this crafting project.
